Acetylene Gas Cylinder Description
Colorless, highly flammable gas and slightly lighter than air. Acetylene of 100 percent is odorless, but the commercial purity generated from calcium carbide has a distinctive, garlic like odor.
Acetylene is highly flammable and easily ignited, with a wide range of flammability in both air and oxygen. This gas produces a very hot flame (over 3000℃ or 5400℉) when combined with oxygen dissolves in acetone dissolved Acetylene. Special care is required during examination & filling the cylinder (Do not discharge the Acetylene cylinder at pressure above 15 psig (103kpa) & do not empty the cylinder below 5 psig).
Commercial production of Acetylene is done using Calcium carbide.
1.Lubrication of bottle production molds
2.Oxygen cutting and welding (oxyacetylene)
3.Industrial and chemical synthesis as raw material for some organic compounds as acetaldehyde, acetic acid, acetic anhydride, acetone
4.Fuel for atomic absorption instruments
5.Paper pulp bleaching
7.Manufacturing synthetic fibers & synthetic rubbers
